FIT LIKE AFRICA
Good Morning Africa!
« Find your why and you will find your way »!
My WHY, is the love of this sport and the passionnant mindset of this land. I allow myself to dream big and don’t see any external need to achieve greatness. Everything is already here and believing in it, is the beginning of the game, the first rep of a long workout of mental toughness.
This Sport is a 10 years old kid, that we can give our education, the one who match with our wills. I’m impress by some sport organisations so well rounded that are essential in all sport aspects:
– Surrounding athletes from university
– Athletes sponsorships and salary
– Overall organisation of championship
– Média coverage (not only basketball or football players are watching the NBA and FIFA games)
– Marketing
– Storytelling and rivalry
All what is admitted in Functional fitness world as the top of the top, has a big room for improvement. The way is not to be on the path of anybody, because nobody is our « why » until an event bring Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg at the half time.
Elite bring Media, Media bring more participants, more participants allow more gym, more gym for more talents to get a better elite. All this cycle generate cash and bring more interest and more interest bring…
Crossfit® Open is a good indicator to give you a global picture of Africa. There is no point to comparate African total subscription to the one of the US, but where numbers talk loudly, is when we consider the ratio of subscription per affiliates. In 2021 Africa ratio was a bit over 35 subscriptions/affiliates (I let you check the other regions) what is clearly a good performance sustained by non affiliates too! this has been well understood by Crossfit® HQ who accommodates some rules to get the Open more accessible to the subscribers not competing in an affiliated box.
Globally, all indicators are showing us, we can take this sport at the next level of entertainment. On that, functional fitness gym are missing an easy way to grow the community by focussing on people who doesn’t workout instead of attracting people who already workout as mentioned by Patrick Cummings. Bodybuilders , runners or sport players are already out of the sofa, 50% of the work is already done, the other half it’s to convince them, than we can improve their performance.. This is one of many levers to activate to grow faster and get better.
All this above to explain you how motivated I am and how FIT LIKE AFRICA wants to be a game changer, not only for Africa, because we work to become a sport innovation made in Africa.
